2019-09-10 13:25

Horiba is building a new US$12m test facility for batteries and fuel cells at the Horiba Biwako E-Harbor site in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, which will enable it to better respond to future test requirements.

The facility includes laboratories dedicated to battery cell analysis, modules, and packs equipped with the latest test equipment including test systems for charge-discharge cycle evaluation and thermal management climatic durability analysis.

By establishing the laboratories within the existing E-Lab at Horiba Biwako E-Harbor, engineers will be able to work with others from the powertrain department where conventional engines and drivelines are developed, on the evaluation of batteries and battery management systems.
