AutoAir 5G test bed for connected and autonomous vehicles launches at Millbrook

2019-09-10 23:50
The AutoAir consortium has demonstrated the UK’s first independent 5G-enabled infrastructure for developing connected and autonomous vehicles, at Millbrook Proving Ground. The AutoAir project is a unique, accelerated development program for 5G technology based on small cells that operate on a ‘neutral host’ basis. The shared neutral host platform enables multiple public and private mobile operators to simultaneously use the same infrastructure by using network slicing, which can radically improve the economics for 5G networks.

Led by Airspan Networks, other partners on the AutoAir consortium are Blu WirelessTechnology, McLaren Applied Technologies, the 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey, Dense Air, Real Wireless, Quortus and Celestia Technologies Group.
